What is AML?
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) is a framework of laws and regulations designed to prevent criminals from disguising illegally obtained funds as legitimate income. In crypto, AML screening checks wallet addresses against databases of known illicit activity.
- OFAC & UN sanctions screening
- Known scam & fraud detection
- Darknet & mixer exposure analysis
How AML Checks Work
An AML wallet check queries multiple intelligence databases to assess risk. It cross-references addresses against sanctions lists, scam databases, mixer interactions, and darknet exposure — all without requiring private keys or transaction signing.
- Cross-references global sanctions lists
- Analyzes transaction patterns
- Scores risk on 0-100 scale
Risk Signals Explained
AML reports flag categories like Sanctions, Stolen Funds, Mixers, Darknet Markets, Scams, Ransomware, and Gambling. Each signal has a severity level — understanding them helps you make informed decisions before transacting.
- Sanctions — most serious, never transact
- Mixers — heavily scrutinized
- Indirect exposure still matters
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to sign a transaction or share my private key?
No. Wallet connection is only used to obtain your public wallet address. We never request signatures, transaction approvals, seed phrases, or private keys.
How is the risk score calculated?
The risk score (0-100) is provided by our AML data partner and is based on blockchain analytics, sanctions lists, and known illicit address databases. Higher scores indicate greater risk exposure.
Why does wallet screening matter?
Chain contamination is real — even if you've done nothing wrong, receiving funds from a compromised source can freeze your exchange accounts and trigger regulatory scrutiny. Screening before transacting protects you.
Is my data shared with anyone?
The address you check is sent only to the AML provider for screening. We do not store checked addresses or associate them with your identity.
